Climate Modeler for Cooling Singapore (100%)

We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join us to conduct research in urban heat island (UHI) and outdoor thermal comfort (OTC) in the highly urbanized and industrialized city of Singapore. 

Starting in September 2019 or under agreement, we are looking for a talented individual to join our interdisciplinary team based at the Singapore ETH-Centre in Singapore.

Your key responsibilities will be to
1.     Participate in ongoing studies targeting UHI and urban environment modelling.
2.     Conduct simulations of various UHI mitigation strategies in the mesoscale.
3.     Analyzethe numerical results.

You should have a master or PhD degree in environmental/mechanical engineering, meteorology, physical geography, or with equivalent relevant background. You should have solid knowledge of urban climate, urban micrometeorology, and thermodynamics. Experience of mesoscale models (e.g., Weather Research and Forecasting with urban canopy model) in urban thermal environment simulations are required. Also, experience in various scripting/shell languages and common programming languages (e.g., Matlab, C/C++, Fortran) are required. Knowledge of Linux operating environment is a plus. Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment and to learn new things is essential.
